This piece is about the struggle to get back up from the clutches of depression that seems to just keep pulling you back down.
This piece shows how dark and alone depression can feel. Everything is just going around and around so fast, feeling like it's swirling around and consuming everything.
This piece is about my friend Hillary's soul ascending in her final moments of life. It shows the darkness and pain that goes along with addiction. The loss of hope is depicted by the rosary turning into pills and falling from her hand.
This piece was painted to help me get through an anxiety attack. The ground and the rocks were painted with my hands and fists to get the added texture and anxious feelings I was trying to get across.
This painting shows how we can have so much anger and rage built up inside of us. We have the power within us to channel it up and out in a productive not destructive way.
This painting was painted last spring when the pandemic had started. It shows the anxiety and uncertainty I was feeling. It was also painted in a poorly lit room so I could not see all the shadows and details until after I had finished the painting. The deep crack helps depict the uncertainty and chaos surrounding the first week of the global shut down... Back before we knew how long and how dark this pandemic would get. I was supposed to do a new painting each month but eventually that project morphed into the Mental Health Awareness Watercolor Series.
